An HR (human resources) manager is a professional who is responsible for managing and coordinating the personnel and administrative functions of an organization. HR managers work in a variety of settings, including corporate offices, small businesses, and non-profit organizations, and they may specialize in a particular area of HR, such as recruitment, employee relations, or benefits administration.
To become an HR manager, an individual typically needs to complete a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as human resources, business, or psychology, and may choose to pursue additional certifications, such as the Human Resources Management Professional (HRMP) or the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designation. Some HR managers may also choose to pursue advanced degrees, such as a master’s in business administration (MBA), in order to gain further expertise and advance their careers.
HR managers are responsible for managing the personnel and administrative functions of their organization, including recruitment, hiring, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management.
